Getting Started -- PAO - Midland Website Project

During the course of the semester we will center our learning around the re-design of the Midland PAO website, an opportunity which has graciously been afford us by Kathy Allen of PAO (Midland).

Our first assignment/mission, will be to outline the project as described and develop our initial approach and questions.

We will also need to agree upon a meeting time for our first official consult with our client, Kathy Allen of PAO. I have created a shared calendar to help us coordinate project deadlines and keep us on schedule. Please review the proposed meeting times and send me your preferred days and times and I will schedule our initial meeting with Kathy.

For next week, I would like you to research current web design practices and thoroughly review the paomidland.org website. Summarize your findings related to best practices, current design standards, and the perceived needs of the PAO website and bring them to class for discussion at our next agreed upon meeting time. Together we will formulate a tentative approach to the site to help us prepare for our first meeting and needs assessment with Kathy Allen.

PAO Website Project Description

I believe that this will be an excellent project for us and that it is very doable in our given time frame. Here is the description of the project, received from PAO of Midland:

"Our web site is terribly out dated. It's about 3-4 years old. We'd like to update not only with who's currently in our office and their positions, but to update the whole look of it. There's nothing on it regarding our mentoring program. There's nothing on it regarding our Consumer Needs and Dreams Endowment through the Midland Area Community Foundation so people could make donations on their own if they chose to. The pictures are old. It just needs a fresh new look to it. A good example is Listening Ears new website that was updated a year ago. It's www.listeningear.com It's very cool - would love something similar."
